i saw a repeat of mind of mencia last night, one from a few months ago - but still very funny. in it, they interviewed people on the street about the appropriate usage of the “n” word. it was just the sort of politically incorrect comedy that has been sparse since chappelle show went on an indefinite hiatus.
the best bit is when carlos mencia brings out a chart representing a sliding scale of blackness. it’s hard to see each face, as it is shown fleetingly, but closer to the black side we have don cheadle. as we get closer to white, there’s denzel washington, then mike tyson, michael jordan and will smith. whiter still we see halle berry followed by vin diesel, which brings us to the whitest of the black… michael jackson, of course!
you can watch the video of the sketch here. you’ll be surprised by some of the random reactions mencia receives from his interviewees. one african-american woman would even use the “n” word (in the positive sense) to describe bryant gumbel… seriously!
