that’s what frederic rouzaud, the head of cristal champagne, seems to be doing. in a recent issue of the economist, he scoffed at the hip-hop community’s vocal endorsement of his product, calling it “unwanted attention.”
rapper and mogul jay z rightfully decided he didn’t like this blatant act of racism, so he announced that he would lead a boycott of the popular bubbly drink. rouzaud’s reply? good riddance, basically. the bastard even released a statement saying, “i’m sure dom perignon or krug would be delighted to have their business.”
i’ll definitely be following jay z’s lead next time i’m celebrating. i hope you do the same.
