bittersweet symphony

quakers-support-gay-marriage.jpgthank god the democrats are taking over, because i don’t think i could handle things otherwise.

despite the fact that liberal politics succeeded in today’s elections, gay marriage bans prevailed in several states (including tennessee - thank you, rednecks). this makes me extremely sad… even if i’m not really all that surprised.

i think this photo sums it up best. how antiquated is discrimination? ask the quakers.

it’s about time

britneyslim.jpg

even if the election doesn’t turn out the way we want, at least britney spears has given us a little bit of hope today, as she (finally!) filed for divorce from kevin federline.

the news comes just one day after she turned up on letterman showing off a newly-svelte physique. i guess britney’s serious about making a comeback - and making k-fed jealous. surely a smokin’ hot bod is the best way to do both. welcome back, brit!

election day

alright, graham’s gonna get political for a minute… but this is important so pay attention!!

lgvotenoon1.jpg

i’m not sure if we have a chance, but we’ll never know until we try. if you live in tennessee, get your ass to the polls and vote no on no. 1! it’s not only unfair to amend the state constitution to ban gay marriage, it’s also unnecessary as gay people are already unable to do so in tennessee.

if you’re anywhere else in the u.s., i know there are similar battles going on in several other states. i hope you can do your part! oh, and while i’m telling you about my political agenda, can you all please help get control of the house and senate away from these damn republicans? i, for one, have had enough.

i promise to post something completely inane later… i’ll need a diversion! if i always focused on the sorry state of our world i’d probably explode.

recipe for disaster?

gwensweetescape.jpgyou’ve probably already seen the cover of gwen’s upcoming album, the sweet escape. i hate to say it, but this album cover is even worse than janet jackson’s. what was she thinking??

on top of that, lead single “wind it up” has gotten horrible reviews (popjustice even compared it to a fergie demo, which is basically the worst insult i can imagine). i’m beginning to get a very horrible feeling that this record is going to suck big time. and it tears me up, because i love this bitch!

i suppose even the best of us make mistakes, and if it’s a big flop, it won’t be the end of the world. and really, it’s too early to tell. she still could have an ace up her sleeve. whew! for her sake i bloody hope so.

lips are sweet and slippery

philritchie.jpgi never saw an episode of rock star: supernova, and now i kinda regret it. i didn’t realize there was anyone really noteworthy on that show until i happened upon photos of phil ritchie. he didn’t win the “competition,” but he definitely wins my vote for hottest contestant.

his band, lennex, isn’t anything revolutionary (think stone temple pilots), and he’s probably a total douchebag in person (most reality t.v. contestants are)… but i really like the half-naked photos i found of him. haha! so yeah, even if he’s still a rockstar-in-training - and despite the nipple rings (check them out after the jump) - i’m still putting him in the hot rockstar club.

a skinny bitch is a confused bitch

katebosworth.jpgi don’t usually waste my time worrying about kate bosworth, but i really couldn’t pass up the chance to ridicule this very silly head-adornment.

but seriously! this has to be one of the most glaring what-was-she-thinking moments i’ve seen in the past few months. it looks like a spider’s just chillin’ on her forehead!

mo’nique, my favorite full-figured comedienne, is the one responsible for this post’s headline… and i’m certain she would break this bitch in half, at least metaphorically. “eat something, bitch,” she said on stage once. “it fucked up your thinkin’.”

emma bunton s.o.s.

emmadancing.jpgoutside the u.k., most people don’t know that “baby spice” emma bunton forged a career after the spices scattered (bless ‘em!). she actually had a string of modest hits, several of which were quite listenable.

her latest career move, however, astounds me. you see, miss bunton has been starring on a reality-television series called strictly come dancing (promo shot pictured), which is incidentally the origin of the u.s. version, dancing with the stars. i know they love high camp on the sceptred isle, but i really don’t see this as a way to rise above it all.

to top it off, emma’s new single is a cover of classic 60s anthem “downtown.” she predictably hasn’t improved upon the original, but apparently the proceeds are going to charity… so at least there’s something positive going on there.

at least she’s got a recurring role on ab fab, which almost makes it all better. regardless, i hope she doesn’t continue down this path. i don’t want to put her on notice.

overexposure

borat.jpgam i the only person on the planet who is sick of this dumbass? i mean, the publicity blitz for his movie borat has been inescapable. his ugly mug is on web sites, billboards - and the cocky s.o.b. won’t even give interviews out of character. yeah, i know every review on the planet says the flick is “offensively hysterical” or whatever, but jesus, lord in heaven! i’m so over him that i really don’t give a fuck how funny the movie is.

ok, rant over… and damn it, i’ll probably change my mind tomorrow.

¡viva la graham! turns one

cupcakecandle.jpgthat’s right, kids! it’s my blog birthday. as of today, ¡viva la graham! is officially one year old. while i did experiment with a myspace blog before then, it wasn’t nearly as special as this.

exactly one year ago today, i wrote about madonna’s cameltoe at the european vma’s. ahhh, doesn’t it seem like just yesterday we were enthralled by that tired vadge…?

before i blow out my candle, i want to send a big thanks to the three or four of you out there who keep up with this thing. haha! seriously, though, i love ya!

as long as you keep reading, i’ll keep writing. cheers to you.
