every once in a while, press people send new music my way with hopes of receiving free publicity. well, i can’t say i was excited when the new katharine mcphee album showed up on my doorstep, but at the very least, i was curious. she was definitely better than taylor hicks, the annoying soul patrol schmo who miraculously triumphed on american idol last year.
my first impression of her debut disc? terribly mediocre… and i hate to say it, because i thought katharine was a bright spot on what was an overwhelmingly dull season of the karaoke juggernaut. lead single “over it” could have been recorded by any of the boring bitches from high school musical, and ridiculous “hip-hop” tracks like “open toes” wouldn’t even make the cut for brooke hogan. ok, that’s meaner than i wanted to be, but you get the picture.
katharine, shape up or ship out! you’re way more talented than country bumpkin kellie pickler, so how come her stuff is better??
