i don’t always get into south park, but sometimes it hits its target dead on. last wednesday’s episode, “cartman sucks,” involved little clueless butters being shipped off to a gay reform camp. the punchline was that butters had no idea what “bicurious” meant — he was blindfolded when his dad caught cartman trying to suck him off (long story!) — so he doesn’t really understand what’s going on around him.
the best part was that the episode was surprisingly pro-gay. yes, it went a bit over the edge by portraying these kids killing themselves because they feel so bad about possibly being gay. but at the very end of the episode, as one manic kid is about to jump off a bridge, butters helps to redeem this with a stirring speech:
“my name is butters, i’m eight years old, i’m blood type o, and i’m bicurious. and that’s ok, because if i’m somehow made from god, then i figure that god must be at least a little bicurious himself.”
after the jump, watch an amusing clip featuring a very flaming camp counselor…
