young and slutty

ah, sometimes i look back on those days fondly!! and then i remember how shallow, lonely and miserable i was, and i’m glad those days have passed.

for the purpose of reminiscing, here’s a video for the reformed tramps of the world. it’s by a canadian/british band called dragonette and the song is called “i get around.” naturally, it’s full of pansexual heavy petting, suggestive dancing, and gender ambiguity. in other words, it’s fantastic.

if you dig it, there’s a van she remix you can download for free (via arjan writes) . those guys put a fresh spin on klaxons’ “gravity’s rainbow,” and this time around they improve on dragonette’s original mix. enjoy!

feeling frisky

120days.jpg

unless you keep up with the indie music scene, you probably haven’t heard of norwegian rock act 120 days. i’d say the band sounds like space-age electronica with a rock edge — check out their single “come out come down” if that’s up your alley.

as you can tell from this photo, these sassy euro-twinks aren’t afraid to get touchy feely during a photo shoot. in fact, they don’t even mind stripping off if you ask nicely. check it out:

if that wasn’t homoerotic enough, you should see what happens when they perform live. i’m not complaining! it gets even better after the jump. Continue Reading »

baldwin’s bluff

baldwinsedge.jpgi haven’t commented on alec baldwin’s voicemail tirade toward his daughter because really, everyone i know has been bitched out by their parents, and much worse was said! it really just seems to be a spiteful battle between two spoiled actors, alec and ex-wife kim basinger. this fictional movie poster, via best week ever, pretty much sums it up.

as for baldwin’s claim that he wanted out of his contract with nbc’s 30 rock, give me a break! the man can’t have a successful career and a fulfilling life with his “piggy” daughter (his words, not mine!)? he’s just playing the p.r. game! if he could go to rehab to make himself look better, he would.

nbc hasn’t commented, but i’m assuming he’s coming back to 30 rock next season. hell no will they let him go when the show is finally gaining momentum! speaking of which, the finale the other night was fantastic. elaine stritch played jack’s mom (brilliant!) and sean hayes played kenneth’s hillbilly cousin (superb!). also, they didn’t leave us with an annoying cliffhanger; everything was resolved quite nicely. if only alec’s personal life would do the same.

you said you’d die for me

lauryn_hill.jpghere’s a great clip for flashback friday, even if it isn’t one to pump you up for the weekend…

it’s been nearly 9 years since lauryn hill topped the charts and swept the grammys with the miseducation of lauryn hill. the best single off that album, in my humble opinion, was a soulful, heartbreaking ballad called “ex-factor.” the video is nearly as gorgeous as the song itself.

lauryn has yet to release a proper studio follow-up to that groundbreaking solo debut, but i can understand why. when something is that brilliant, you might not be able to match it, and lauryn doesn’t seem like one to half-ass it.

just one of the girls

sanjaya.jpgoh, sanjaya. poor delusional sanjaya. sooner or later i knew he would have to comment on his sexuality, and it turns out he hasn’t yet come to terms with his inner gay.

“i got teased in school because people figured i must be gay because i understand women,” he told people magazine. “when i went up to girls they would give me a hug and a kiss on the cheek like i was their gay friend. but i was the straight guy that understood them.”

i used to say the same type of bullshit when i was 17. i mean, i loved s club 7 and the spice girls and some of my family members were surprised when i told them the truth!!  he’ll take this back in a few years on the cover of people when his career is flailing. mark my words.

shit don’t stink

adamlev.jpgmaroon 5 frontman adam levine certainly seems like he’s very pleased with himself. don’t you agree?

the most ironic part is that his band isn’t really that great. i admit to liking a few of thier songs (”harder to breathe” was actually much better than “this love”), but new single “makes me wonder” is hardly a classic (stream it at myspace).

it doesn’t help that he appears so over-confident in the music video; apparently boinking a few hollywood hos can go straight to one’s head. and get a load of the cocky lyrics in the the first verse: “struggle to memorize the way it felt between your thighs / the pleasure that made you cry.” but were those tears of pleasure or shame?

that being said, i’d totally let him touch me inappropriately. check out the photos after the jump and perhaps you’ll understand why.

stylist’s day off

mischa_barton2.jpgbritney_spears4.jpg

let’s examine these candid photos of mischa barton and britney spears, as they obviously did not consult a professional or even a mirror before stepping out of their front door.

firstly, mischa has never looked so ridiculously frumpy. if i didn’t dislike her so much, i’d probably give her snaps for being contrary, but since i do actually despise her, i can’t resist saying that she looks like one of mackenzie phillips’ style-challenged friends circa one day at a time.

and then there’s britney! her tummy is looking admirably taut in these most recent pics, but i find fault with this look. that pink top belongs on a slutty sixth-grader! i know she wants to make k-fed regret his past mistakes, but right here she just appears desperate.

young love takes his top off

younglovevid.jpg here’s a pleasant surprise. it’s young love’s new clip for “find a new way,” which can best be described as dead sexy. i must say he’s looking good without his shirt on, and i never thought he was attractive before this. the only thing ruining things here is that annoying brunette girl, who should not get more screen time than the dancing gorilla. but no matter! “find a new way” is the video of the week.

as for the song, it reminds me a little bit of dangerous muse, which is good. it’s safe to say this will be a dance hit, but i’d like to see it infiltrate the pop charts as well. fingers crossed.

gwen sleeps in, has a cup of tea

after “the sweet escape” bounced around the top ten for longer than expected, “4 in the morning” took a while to see the light of day… but gwen’s new video is finally here!

i hate to say it, but the clip isn’t really remarkable. she’s working the same sort of natural look she did in no doubt’s “underneath it all” video, which was so gorgeous, but this time i was hoping for more. it doesn’t help that i sort of overdosed on this song six months ago. oh well, i’m still hoping it’s a big hit for her.

on the cover of a magazine

pantyraidcancoverthumb.jpg¡viva la graham! scored the cover story in nashville’s city@night magazine with a feature on fabulous burlesque troupe panty raid! the original three dirty dames have since expanded to eleven ladies, and they’re all throwing a big fourth birthday bash tonight at downtown’s mercy lounge to celebrate. officially, it’s a totally ’80s tease-a-thon, so expect to see the girls dressed up like madonna, cyndi lauper and tawny kitaen, among others. anyone else who dresses up for the event gets a few bucks off the cover charge!

for those of you outside nashvegas who can’t pick up a print copy of the magazine, you can download the .pdf over at city@night’s web site, which we recommend for the gorgeous photos of original members ruby van go-go (pictured) and lula licious… or you could just check out the entire article after the jump.
