the new white stripes single, “icky thump,” doesn’t come out for a month, but you can stream it now at mp3.com. i think it lives up to its unpleasant title, actually, but then again the band lost me with their so-so last album, get behind me satan.
it doesn’t help that frontman jack white seems to believe his own hype these days, which is not very becoming. remember, he lives in nashville now, and i hear he has been spotted hobbling around the mall with his top hat and cane. give me a break!
i’m bummed if this new song represents the rest of the album. i love white blood cells and elephant. i suppose the raconteurs are alright, but this shit does nothing for me.
