hooray for travis! as i hoped, the scottish band had more to offer than low-key first single “closer” on their new album, which i only just acquired. here’s the video for “selfish jean,” a satisfyingly toe-tapping offering from the boy with no name. the clip features comedian demetri martin ripping off a slew of t-shirts with messages relating to the song. a sample lyric and it’s accompanying t-shirt: fran healy sings “the finer things in life” as martin sports the slogan “art, music, jaffa cakes.” fantastic!
martin gained mainstream prominence on the daily show, where he proved himself to be a self-deprecating social satirist for the hipster set. if all goes well, this video could do for travis what ok go did for themselves with their silly treadmill clip. something tells me martin’s indie cred will work wonders.
