first britain, then the world

the enemy currently sits atop the u.k. album chart with the debut album we’ll live and die in these towns. though the lads appear barely post-adolescent, their success should come as no surprise. the new brit act combine high energy riffs with undeniable hooks in the vein of arctic monkeys and the kooks, and their songs have steadily gained popularity, with each single charting higher than its predecessor.

here’s the video for their latest hit, “had enough,” which peaked at no. 4 in the u.k. thanks in part to the cheeky chorus (”hey, hey, what’s the matter with your face, face?”). no word yet on whether or not the band will attempt to invade america, though i’m guessing they could pilfer some of the interest garnered by their slightly-senior contemporaries.
