If you don’t watch or you simply dislike Project Runway, you might want to skip this post.
Ok, I’m in the minority here, but I actually adore Kenley Collins, the hapless villian of the reality show’s current season (which has not been a snore, in my humble opinion, though some backlash has begun).
Sure, I can understand why her uncontrollable giggling on the runway might make her seem arrogant and a bit rude. And I can see why host Heidi Klum complained about Kenley’s attitude problem after being snapped at by the designer several times.
So why am I rooting for the misunderstood diva? Perhaps it’s her pluckiness, which I admire. (Is she labeled the “bitch” because she’s a woman??) But I’ve also really liked many of the creations she’s sent down the catwalk (though perhaps not that fuschia nightmare with the scales, sorry Kenley!).
Also, I’m often a fan of the underdog. I can’t blame Kenley for wanting to scratch out the other contestant’s eyes when they wouldn’t share their unused tulle in Wednesday’s episode — or not joining the group hug after being dissed by all when the judges asked who didn’t deserve a spot in the finale. That was a major “Fuck You!”
Will Kenley triumph in the finale? Admittedly her chances are slim – but anything could happen if she doesn’t present a collection of vintage-looking frocks (and surely she’s got a few tricks up her short puffy sleeves). I’m hoping she pulls it off, just because it’d be a major upset. And for Kenley, victory would be the sweetest revenge.
