A friend of mine said American Idol victor David Cook looks a little bit gay in this photo, the cover art for new single “Light On,” but that’s probably because her husband (let’s call him John) has a major man-crush on the arena-rock crooner. ”It’s exactly the song he needed to release,” John said with a twinkle in his eyes. What he really wanted to say was, “I wonder what his stubble would feel like on my cheek.” Or, “When he hits those low notes I want him to hold me in his arms.”
I think it’s a very catchy track, though unfortunately it comes off as slightly contrived. In fact, it’s nearly indistinguishable from the typical tunes of another Idol alum, Daughtry. Of course, that could work in Cook’s favor — Chris Daughtry’s band sold nearly 5 million records.
David performs on SNL this weekend, and his self-titled debut drops Nov 18.
John is very excited.
