Peaches was rocking the leotards and sexual ambiguity before Lady GaGa even had her first period. Of course, the “Fuck the Pain Away” singer turns it up to 11, spewing out taboo lyrics and riding giant dildoes during live performances. In contrast, GaGa’s disco shtick comes off as coy.
Unfortunately, the original sex bomb’s latest effort, I Feel Cream, has underperformed. It almost feels like Peaches is going through the motions, and the videos she’s done since lead single “Talk to Me” come off as a low-budget parody of her Fame Monster apprentice. Sad but true, in my humble opinion. Next time around, let’s hope Ms. Nisker takes her place at the head of the class, Teaches of Peaches-style.
There are a few sticky-sweet spots to be found on Cream, namely second single “Lose You.” I don’t want to sour your opinion of it with the visual, so shut your eyes and give it a shot. It’s understated but urgent, not overtly sexual yet still very sensual. Check it out:
