There’s been a lot of blog fuss over the new MGMT tracks that surfaced earlier this week. Personally I feel that rumored lead single “Flash Delirium” lacks an identifiable hook, even if it sounds like an experimental Bowie-meets-Sargeant Pepper-on-shrooms-type trip (download it here). Potentially brilliant in theory, but I feel the execution was lackluster.
Enter Portland-based electronic act Baby Monster, which is about to release the single MGMT should have done to keep the momentum going from Oracular Spectacular. It’s obvious on the first listen that the psychedelic-pop-style of “She Comes Alive” was influenced by the famous Brooklyn duo — but at the same time it’s unique enough to stand on its own. Download it below; you won’t regret it…
DL: Baby Monster – “She Comes Alive”
The single is available March 29 on Big Stereo records, but you can catch the band at several SXSW events starting the 17th.
