It’s not terribly surprising that “Blame It On the Girls” never really caught on in the U.S. Mika tends to be a bit too quirky (or gay?) for middle America, but I suppose it doesn’t really matter. The flamboyant Brit will continue being colorful regardless.
A few fun club versions of the aforementioned single have been popping up on the internet recently, most likely due to the song’s imminent U.K. release. (“Rain” was the second single there.) I’m loving the electropop spin of the Anoraak remix, which you can download here. Thankfully they omitted the irritating spoken part in the beginning.
My apologies for overlooking the shamelessly theatrical video when it premiered last October. It was directed by Nez Khammal, the same creative chap who helmed the enchanting clip for Lily Allen’s “The Fear.” He definitely has a distinctive visual style. Watch it below.

mika’s life in cartoon motion is finally released in the u.s. today, so all you american “grace kelly” lovers can finally legally acquire the album in its entirety!
while the disc offers several glorious triumphs — “billy brown,” “relax (take it easy),” “grace kelly” and “happy ending” — there is plenty of mediocrity mucking up the rest of it. and one track that for some reason annoys me to no end.
it’s been a while since i’ve featured a video on here – partly because i’ve had so much trouble embedding them!
