Parker Posey

coming soon

jezebeljames.jpgi had mixed feelings when i heard parker posey would be starring in her own television show, the return of jezebel james. i’ll watch anything she’s in (and most of it is brilliant), but at the same time i was wary of seeing the former indie film queen in a comedy from the creators of that schmaltz-fest the gilmore girls. now that i’ve seen a preview for the series, which will reportedly serve as a mid-season replacement on fox, i’m even more confused.

parker is fabulous, as always, and i adore lauren ambrose as well (she was on hbo’s six feet under, and believe it or not that is her in the photo). they both do well with the so-so dialogue and the derivative premise, but i’m not sure this will make it to the small screen as is. perhaps the strangest part is having ms. posey accompanied by a laugh track. it’s just not right! if you’re so inclined, watch the clip for yourself after the jump. comedy dream team

springbreakdown3.jpg

how did i not hear about this until now?? parker posey, amy poehler and rachel dratch will co-star in this april’s spring breakdown, and i can’t believe i never thought of putting these talented funny ladies together before now. genius!

i mean, even on its own this press picture is absolutely hysterical! let’s hope this flick is more romy & michele than night at the roxbury. if so, it has the potential to be a new favorite.

looking forward to…

foryourconsideration.jpgfor your consideration. i’m a huge fan of christopher guest films, and this one definitely has potential to be as hysterically funny as his most famous flick, waiting for guffman.

popbytes posted links to the trailer - so check it out if you want to see what it’s all about.

as usual, consideration includes most of the same actors as guest’s past movies. it looks like the catherine o’hara has a major role in this one, which is always a good thing! i just hope my favorite actress in the world, parker posey, gets plenty of screen time as well.

the film opens in select cities on nov. 17. let’s hope we get it here in nashvegas before christmas!!

parker’s red carpet hi-jinks

parkerposeypremiere.jpg

good lord, i love parker posey. is there another actress who could be so comical and caustic on the red carpet? definitely not.

i hadn’t yet seen this ensemble, which parker wore to the hollywood premiere of indie flick adam & steve (she plays a supporting role). obviously, her outfit is all about the telephone handbag, which is awesome because it is so unfashionable. but her quirky sense of humor went over the heads of the numbskulls at us weekly, who basically called her a crazy bitch, saying she must be calling the fashion police. wow, isn’t that just so clever and original?

curious friends

parkerposey2.jpgi didn’t see larry king’s recent interview with liza minnelli, but i know miss liza was crazy as ever. one thing i didn’t hear until yesterday was that the diva just finished filming a movie called the oh in ohio with my beloved parker posey. it turns out she’s playing a sex therapist (as did fellow fag hag barbra streisand, who i actually liked in meet the fockers).

the truly shocking part (at least i hadn’t heard it)? liza claims that parker is one of her best friends. what the fuck?!?

while this is indeed a surprising turn of events, it sort of makes sense if you think about it. both parker and liza love new york. they’re both very quirky (though perhaps liza is a a bit beyond quirky!). also, they both have a gay following.

hmmm… i am intrigued.
